Surgery

When you’re being admitted to the hospital for surgery it can be a little unnerving. To help eliminate some of that anxiety, we’re providing information that will help you know what to expect once you arrive.

If your surgery is planned in advance, you’ll most likely come to the Hospital on the day of the surgery. Once you arrive, you should go directly to the Admitting department. After you’ve completed the admission process, you will be directed to the Ambulatory Surgery area on the 4th floor to be prepared for surgery — nless you fall into one of the following categories:

  • Pediatric surgical patients under the age of 14 are prepared for surgery in the Pediatric area on the 3rd floor.
  • C-section patients are prepared for surgery in the Family Birthing Center on the 3rd floor.
  • Heart surgery patients are prepared for surgery on the cardiovascular unit.

The following information can help you prepare for your surgery and will answer any questions that you may have prior to your surgery.
